

This digital and self-paced course gives you an improved ability to apply results-based and adaptive management in project and programs in development cooperation. The course is primarily designed as an introduction to results-based and adaptive management and looks at how to perform a problem analysis, draft a theory of change, select a system to monitor progress and apply an adaptive mindset to programme/project planning and implementation.
Although the course is designed to be fully taken digitally and self-paced, we also aim to offer regular digital workshops and/or webinars where participants have the opportunity to discuss the content and further deepen their learning.
Purpose
The purpose of the course is to strengthen development actors ability to plan, implement, monitor and follow-up programs and projects in a flexible way focusing on results and effects, rather than activities.
Learning Objectives
After active participation in the course, you will be able to:
- Explain Sida's view on RBM and Adaptive Management
- Analyse root causes of a problem
- Develop an actor-centered Theory of Change
- Develop a monitoring plan
- Explain when and how adaptive management can improve results
Target group
Programme/project managers, programme officers or staff working with monitoring and evaluation at Sida’s partner organisations (in Sweden and internationally).
The course is primarily designed as an introduction course, but participants with previous experience and knowledge of RBM and Adaptive Management can still find it useful.
